The opening reception for my In Her Eyes show this past Saturday was a fabulous, fun filled affair, attended by friends, family, fellow artists and supporters and a small but sizable number of people I had yet to meet. The evening passed in a whirlwind of greetings and chats wonderful but not nearly long enough. A few pics of the evening are posted here but the bulk of images from the evening are on my Flickr site, here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/42284018@N06/sets/72157623200117436/

It takes a village to put on a one woman art show!

Three new posts up on my blog:

In preparation for my upcoming show in January at the Martin Batcheor Gallery I have decided to keep a blog of the artwork being created for it. You can read about its beginnings here: http://chiaink.wordpress.com/
This year's show proved to be a very special one for me, not only winning a Juror's Choice Award, thank you Catherine Moffat, but also selling both pieces in the show. Being very personal works of art it was both gratifying and humbling to see how well they resonated with others.
Tibetan sand mandala, the white continuous string, a Pat Martin Bates corner and prints!, lovely, exquisite prints by Rembrandt and Goya and, my favorite of the night, Kathe Kollwitz. Add two amazing dance performances, funky DJ Longshanks music and schmoozing with fab friends, old and new, to make for one memorable evening at the art gallery. Can't wait for the next one!
Thank you Rumon for the use of your lovely photograph. Many more wonderful photos of the night can be found here: http://rumoncarter.com/front.html

The promise of a wonderful afternoon of entertainment brought out a wonderful turnout of guests who were not disappointed in the beautiful melodies and recitations offered. An extraordinary musical performance followed by exquisite poetry made for a magical afternoon. A heartfelt thank you to our guest performers, Alcvin Takegawa Ryuzen Ramos on shakuhachi and Satomi Saeki Edwards on koto and guest poets - Pat Martin Bates, Patricia Young and Terence Young. A special thank you to Elaine Limbrick and the West Shore Arts Council who made this day possible.
As hoped, our opening last night was an absolutely delightful evening of celebrating with our friends and supporters. A huge thank you to all who attended and shared this 'moment' with us.
We are now doing last minute preparations for our Afternoon Tea on Sunday, June 14th. With musical performances by Alcvin Ramos on shakuhachi and Satomi Edwards on koto and poetry readings by Pat Martin Bates, Patricia Young and Terence Young, this promises to be an even more exciting moment we are honored to share with the community.
Got some wonderful publicity today. An article on our show was published in Focus Magazine's June issue (page 17).
Thank you, Leslie Campbell and your wonderful team at Focus for your support!
